Magic Happens at Up from the Ashes!

There is no defining moment in my life that pinpoints my call to be an artist. The knowledge was always there, even as a child.

My foundation is an odd synergy of formal training and self-taught techniques and my
inspiration is quite literally everything I see.  I began sculpting with wire when I was little girl, scavenging tiny spools of copper wire from old telephones and radios and using the filaments to make wire doodles and sketches.  In high school I progressed to making larger sculptures and won a few prizes in state and national art competitions for my efforts. In college I studied everything I could get my hands on and won Best in Show for my Senior Exhibit.  I continue to this day to learn new skills and work with new materials on a regular basis.

Currently, I specialize in wearable art in the form of fantasy wings, leather masks, sculptural wire crowns and one of a kind costumes.

While one may consider wings and masks to be simple costume accessories, I have chosen to embed a tiny piece of my soul and personality in everything I create, giving each work a life of its own.  I view wearable art as an opportunity for the viewer to become inexorably linked with the subject matter.  To wear a piece of art is to participate in it's story and to find in yourself aspects of truth and beauty that are hidden from daily view.  It is about forming an emotional link with the piece, until you are no longer just wearing the art, you realize you are a work of art yourself.
